Petanque at the Rock

About Petanque

Petanque is a popular game with some similarities to bocce and bowls. The goal is to throw metal balls as close as possible to a small wooden ball called a cochonnet (jack). The game is normally played on hard dirt or gravel, but can also be played on grass or other surfaces.

Petanque originated in Provence in southern France and has a growing international following. The casual form of the game of Petanque is played by about 17 million people in France (mostly during their summer vacations).

Of course, no other Petanque club has the glorious surroundings enjoyed by Woodend Hanging Rock Petanque Club!

A great beginners guide to Petanque is available online at www.petanque.org/beginners
