A sustainable future for the Macedon Ranges
Download and print Festival Schedule

Welcome!
Our Purpose: To create and nurture a sustainable future in the Macedon Ranges. To initiate and promote: opportunities to learn; the sharing of skills and experience; advocacy in support of environmental sustainability and social equity; together with activities that bring revenue into the community and increase employment.
The Macedon Ranges Sustainability Group is a non-profit organisation with no political affiliations. It is interested only in helping the communities of the Macedon Ranges deal with the impacts of climate change and peak oil and encouraging a greater appreciation of ways to live more simply and work together in a sustainable manner. The rules of incorporation are available from the Secretary.
The Woodend Sustainable Living Community, incorporated on 1 July 2004, was renamed the Macedon Ranges Sustainability Group at the Annual General Meeting of 21st August 2008. During the initial phase, the group's focus was on strengthening the organisational structure on which future activities were to be based: - Community Enterprises, Sustainability Projects, Sustainable Agriculture and Education. Key projects were the creation of an activity and learning centre and the development of the Hub garden.
Since then, local demand has led the Group to extend activities across the Macedon Ranges Shire, embracing other townships in the Shire.
A comprehensive range of activities are now underway including the "Movies that Matter" film series; the development of the permaculture garden and workshops; as well as great speakers.
Most events are located at "The Hub" at the rear of the Woodend Neighbourhood House, 47 Forest St, Woodend. Thanks to the WSLC we have excellent facilities available including a resource room, office and large meeting room- which is available for a modest rental.
The Macedon Ranges Sustainability Group is developing new projects including:
- Education Initiatives (e.g. Eco-literacy)
- Sensible Transport campaigns
- Waste Reduction projects
- Local Advocacy.
MRSG welcomes new members who share our concerns about sustainability and interested in making their own contribution.
