Woodend Children's Park Newsletter
29 June 09
Our community is working together to build a park of inspiration and discovery.
A meeting place for young and old, locals and visitors. A park to explore, to enjoy, to play.
Woodend helping other community park projects

Woodend Children's Park hosted a lunch for playground organisers from Doctors Creek. The Doctors Creek team saw their town decimated in the February fires. They are now working towards a new local playground and recreational meeting place, an important community strengthening process in a region that is fragmented by disaster and disbelief. Woodend Children's Park provided documentation to get Doctors Creek started in financially appealing for funds and practical advice on design and how to navigate with government. This lunch followed on from another recent Woodend Children's Park meeting with the Kyneton Playground Team who are also following suit in getting their project off the ground.

Park construction progress

Initial installation of play equipment from all three leading suppliers is complete. It looks amazing. Initial earthworks are well underway but now we're on to the fiddly work of refining drainage and shaping landscaping areas. It's coming together but there's still lots to do: paths, BBQ shelters, seating, landscaping, fencing, boulders, tree trunks to climb on, lookout, soft fall and more.
