MRSC in principle support for Woodend Children’s Park site
The Woodend Children’s Park took a major leap forward last night when Macedon Ranges Shire Council agreed in principle to allocate vacant land next to the Woodend Kindergarten for the initiative.
Woodend Children’s Park Committee president, Ms Kellie Duff, said the decision meant Woodend was one step closer to a decent playground for its 1200 plus children.
She said the land next to the kindergarten was ideal in its size and location for the proposed park.
“We wanted the park in a location that was large and central but sheltered and ideally away from major roads.
“This site is perfect and it provides easy access to the town centre, the primary schools and of course the kindergarten,” she said.
The Council decision means the Woodend Children’s Park Committee can take the important next steps in fundraising and planning approvals.
“This means we can really get the ball rolling in applying for government grants and our efforts to raise the $300,000 needed to build the park,” Ms Duff said.
“We still have a long way to go and need the support of the entire Woodend community to bring this project to fruition by the end of the year.
“In the next few weeks we will be launching our sponsorship package and holding a special Mother’s Day event and I urge people to support these initiatives and get involved in this worthwhile cause.”
