Woodend Children's Park

Public Art Project

Woodend Children’s Park Comittee is seeking proposals from artists for an artwork up to a value of $15,000 (including GST) that will enhance the proposed playground.

This place should engage the sensory,
with
tactile surfaces
to capture and delight
We would like to select an artist’s concept, and then work with that artist to apply for Arts funding for the project.  The project is not guaranteed, but is contingent upon a successful grant proposal.  The artist must reside in a regional area as defined by the criteria of the Regional Arts Fund grants, http://www.rav.net.au/erave1/funding see Guidelines, “ARIA Remoteness Map”.

The concept proposals will be judged by a selection panel appointed by the Woodend Children’s Park Committee.

The Woodend Chilldren’s Park (WCP) committee is a not-for-profit volunteer group from the local community who have identified the need and have a collective vision for a children’s park for the Woodend community.

We are including art works in the park which complement notions of play with artistic expression.  This park will be a significant cultural space and connection for children, parents, grandparents and friends, a place of social cohesion.  The art will add presence and possibilities for creative and interactive play.

The design must have environmentally sustainable components, for example reuse existing, recycled or salvaged materials, minimize embodied energy in the production of materials, etc.
